How Morgan was given a new lease of life

Morgan is an elderly Shetland pony owned by Becky. Morgan was abandoned several years ago, but luckily a local livery yard owner cared for him and finally found him a home with Becky where he is now a companion to her dressage horse.

When Morgan first arrived at his new home he had an excessively long coat for the time of year, and he sweated up quite often despite the weather not being warm. These signs alerted Becky to test for PPID. He was diagnosed with PPID after a positive ACTH blood test, and started on medical treatment.

Becky says “Since starting treatment to control his PPID he has had a new lease of life, so much so that he can sometimes be hard to catch!  His coat has improved so that it is less thick in the winter and he gets a shiny summer coat.”
